- Do I need to treat my cabin?
Most cabins are supplied untreated except for the pressure-impregnated foundation beams. The cabins must be treated as soon as possible after construction. Many forms of treatment are available from all good diy stores. Ensure that the product chosen is suitable for use on smooth planed wood previously untreated outdoors. - Do I need planning permission for my cabin?
For the majority of cabins planning permission is not normally required unless you live in a conservation area. However we always recommend a call to your local council to ensure this is the case and for peace of mind. It is your responsibility to check! - How do I make a base for my cabin?
For smaller cabins (under 30sq metres) a paving slab base should be adequate. For larger sized cabins a concrete base must be used. - How long is delivery?
Finnforest/Finnlife hold most cabins in stock and so delivery is fairly quick at around 14 days. Most other cabins are made to order, normally in Holland, Germany of Finland and can take 4-6 weeks. Because stock and manufacturing capability fluctuates throughout the year it is always best to check if delivery time is critical. - How are the cabins delivered?
Finnforest/Finnlife and Lugarde use specialist vehicles which off load the cabins and place the packages as near to where you want them. This however is within the constraints of the delivery vehicle and access. Normally this is drive or curb side. Other manufacturers may not have specialist vehicles and you will need to provide 2 able bodied people to assist with off loading. - Are the cabins easy to build?
Provided that you are reasonably diy minded the cabins are very easy to build. A basic tool kit is all that is required. Small cabins could be a weekend project whilst larger buildings may take 4-7 days. - Do I need to treat my cabin?
